    WHAT:
KidsAndCars.org invites you to join the ‘first of its kind’ international virtual press event and Congressional briefing to demonstrate how technology can prevent hot car deaths and injuries. Tragically, the last two years have been the worst in U.S. history for child hot car deaths with at least 107 little lives lost. Education and awareness are at an all-time high, but children continue to die at record rates. Technology is critical to eliminate these preventable tragedies.

On July 1st, the Hot Cars Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives as part of the Moving Forward Act (H.R. 2). The bill calls for a safety standard requiring technology in all new vehicles to detect the presence of a child and provide audio and visual warnings both inside and outside the vehicle. This type of technology is readily available and affordable. It should be installed in all new vehicles immediately. Tomorrow’s virtual event will highlight technologies available to prevent hot car deaths. The event will also address major concerns with the weak and unenforceable ‘voluntary agreement’ amongst auto makers announced last year.

KidsAndCars.org will also be releasing information about hot car deaths documented by the organization in 56 countries around the world.  An in-depth analysis of U.S. hot car death information will also be published.
