Pedestrian Safety

On average, every two hours a pedestrian was killed and every eight minutes a pedestrian was injured in traffic crashes in 2013. A total of 4,735 pedestrians were killed in the United States in 2013. An additional estimated 66,000 pedestrians were injured in traffic crashes in 2013.

Bicyclist Safety

In 2013, there were 743 pedalcyclist deaths in the U.S. according to NHTSA data. There were an additional 48,000 pedalcyclists injured in motor vehicle crashes the same year. 2013 represented the third straight annual increase in pedalcyclist deaths — a 19% increase since 2010.
