This legislation will improve safety on Louisiana roads by broadening the current prohibition on drivers from using wireless communication devices to include distracting viewing of non-navigational content and manual use. Considering the prevalence of distracted driving crashes, this legislation is critical, responsive and timely.

The measure would require that children remain rear facing in a child safety seat until age two or older and would add a minimum height requirement for children younger than age six to attain before they transition from use of a booster seat to a seat belt.
