On March 30, 2021 Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety (Advocates) sent a letter to the South Carolina House Judiciary Committee in support of House Bill (HB) 3360/ Senate Bill (SB) 248 to upgrade South Carolina’s distracted driving law.   The legislation would broaden the current prohibition on drivers from using wireless communication devices to read, write or send text messages while operating a motor vehicle to include distracting viewing and manual use.

On March 22, 2021 Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety (Advocates) sent a letter in support of Senate Bill (SB) 20 to the North Carolina Committee on Rules and Operations of the Senate.  The legislation would improve safety on North Carolina roads by broadening the current prohibition on drivers from using wireless communication devices to read, write or send text messages while operating a motor vehicle to include distracting viewing of non-navigational content and manual use.
