CT: Advocates Organizes Push For State to Address Road Crisis By Reducing BAC to .05%

Advocates and leading safety partners have joined forces in calling on the Connecticut Legislature to pass Senate Bill (SB) 1376. This legislation will lower the per se limit of alcohol-impaired driving to .05 percent blood alcohol concentration (BAC), deter drunk driving and save lives.

Drunk driving is a deadly and costly threat to Connecticut families. In 2023, there were an estimated 322 fatalities on state roads according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) which is a 29 percent increase since 2019. Thirty-five (35) percent (127) of Connecticut traffic deaths in 2022 involved drunk driving which exceeds the national average. Read the full letter here.
