Advocates has joined national and Arizona-based groups to oppose SCR 1002, which would put to a public vote, whether or not local jurisdictions could employ lifesaving speed and red light safety cameras.
Photo enforcement works. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administra6on (NHTSA) reports that speed cameras reduce roadway injuries and fatali6es by 20-37%. A study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) found a 21% reduc6on in red-light running among cities that utilize photo enforcement. Locally, an analysis of Phoenix intersec6ons found that those with red-light cameras experienced 28% fewer crashes than those without.
