Schakowsky, Colleagues, Advocates Highlight INVEST In America Act Auto Safety Provisions
Several Components of Infrastructure Legislation Will Save Lives, Protect Consumers from Automobile Dangers

 

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, June 30th, 2021, at 1PM ET, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, will host a press conference to highlight the auto safety provisions included in the INVEST In America Act, the infrastructure package the U.S. House will vote on this week.

Schakowsky will be joined by the Members who authored different pieces of legislation that has been included in this package. Some of those bills are the Hot Cars Act, Park IT Act, 21st Century Smart Cars, Five Stars for Safe Cars Act, SAFE Limos Act, HALT Drunk Driving Act, and the Crash Avoidance System Evaluation Act. Additionally, members will be speaking in support of including the Modernizing Seatback Safety Act, which has been offered as an amendment.

The Members will also be joined by advocates, including families of victims of some of the tragedies that inspired some of the legislation.
