On March 30, 2021 Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety (Advocates) sent a letter to the South Carolina House Judiciary Committee in support of House Bill (HB) 3360/ Senate Bill (SB) 248 to upgrade South Carolina’s distracted driving law.   The legislation would broaden the current prohibition on drivers from using wireless communication devices to read, write or send text messages while operating a motor vehicle to include distracting viewing and manual use.

Letter in Support of Senate Bill (SB) 20 to Upgrade North Carolina’s Distracted Driving Law

150 150 Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety

On March 22, 2021 Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety (Advocates) sent a letter in support of Senate Bill (SB) 20 to the North Carolina Committee on Rules and Operations of the Senate.  The legislation would improve safety on North Carolina roads by broadening the current prohibition on drivers from using wireless communication devices to read, write or send text messages while operating a motor vehicle to include distracting viewing of non-navigational content and manual use.

Letters Supporting Assembly Bill (A) 855 and Senate Bill (SB) 1602 to Curb Distracted Driving in New Jersey

150 150 Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety

These bills will improve safety on New Jersey roads by prohibiting device use while stopped in traffic (S. 1602) and by broadening the current prohibition on drivers’ use of wireless communication devices while operating a motor vehicle to include viewing non-navigational video and content (A. 855).
