Ahead of a hearing tomorrow, Advocates has sent a letter to leadership of the Highways and Transit Subcommittee of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee outlining proven solutions to address devastating truck crash fatalities and injuries. These include requiring technology like automatic emergency braking (AEB)and speed limiting devices and addressing issues like truck parking. The letter also includes opposition to increasing maximum weight and lengths of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs), allowing teenagers to operate CMVs in interstate commerce, expanding the hours truck drivers can drive or undermining use of electronic logging devices (ELDs) to track driving hours. The letter also lays out concerns with automated driving system (ADS) technology, including automated commercial motor vehicles (ACMVs).
