Groups Urge Trump Administration to Consider Transportation Safety Issues With Marijuana Rescheduling

Advocates has joined with  trucking, aviation, rail, intermodal, hazardous materials, pipeline, and other critical highway safety stakeholders to express serious safety concerns regarding the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) proposed action to transfer all marijuana products from Schedule I to Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act.

Unless the necessary steps are taken to preserve employers’ ability to test safety‑sensitive transportation workers for marijuana, this change could have significant consequences for the safety of the traveling public and the entire transportation sector.
