On May 12, 2022, Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety (Advocates) sent a letter to the California Senate Public Safety Committee urging enactment of Senate Bill (SB) 1021, which would require the use of ignition interlock devices (IIDs) by first-time offenders, including drunk driving violators who have been placed in a diversion program, and make additional improvements to prevent drunk driving.
