On April 1, 2022 Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety and a broad group of stakeholders sent letters to the Transportation Committees in the New York State Legislature urging support for Senate Bill (S.) 131 and Assembly Bill (A.) 7197, which would lower the alcohol-impaired driving limit in the state to .05 percent blood alcohol concentration (BAC).

The letters are signed by Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety, Families for Safe Streets, FIA Foundation, Kids and Car Safety, Liam’s Life Foundation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, National Safety Council (NSC) and NSC Northeastern NY Safety and Health Council, Remove Intoxicated Drivers (RID-USA, Inc.), Transportation Alternatives, Vision Zero Network and members of the .05 Saves Lives Coalition, and includes new research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration demonstrating the effectiveness of Utah’s .05 percent BAC law which went into effect at the end of 2018.
