Advocates joined safety partners in urging the passage of SB 248/AB 258 which would allow people convicted of repeat OWI and those convicted of OWI with a high blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level to install an ignition interlock device (IID) sooner and obtain a restricted license. Additionally, the legislation provides for extended time on the IID if OWI offenders are violating the terms of the program repeatedly or attempting to bypass, circumvent or tamper with the device.
